Bordon's housing stock reflects its military history. Much of the town was built to serve the garrison at Louisburg Barracks, and the older residential areas contain a mix of ex-MOD housing, 1960s and 1970s council-built homes, and some more recent private development. The regeneration of the former base, including the Louisburg Quarter development, is bringing new housing to the area, but the existing stock remains the focus of the majority of our work.
East Hampshire District Council's planning policies apply across Bordon, and the proximity of the South Downs National Park to the south and east of the town is a relevant consideration for some properties on the edges of the settlement. Properties within the National Park boundary are subject to the South Downs National Park Authority's planning policies, which are separate to East Hampshire District Council.
